Greensboro - N.C. Department of Transportation contractors plan to replace the bridge carrying Alamance Church Road over Little Alamance Creek between Causey Lake Road and Cyrus Road just southeast of Greensboro.
Work will begin at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29. The new bridge should be open by March 2016.
Motorists will navigate around the work using an onsite detour adjacent to the existing bridge.
The Alamance Church Road Bridge project is part of the department’s overall bridge program to improve the condition of the state’s bridges. Built in 1962, the existing bridge is structurally deficient and functionally obsolete and no longer meets the demands of the traffic using it.
