Winston-Salem - N.C. Department of Transportation contractors have completed replacing the bridge over Kerners Mill Creek on Hastings Hill Road in Kernersville; allowing for the roadway to open more than two weeks ahead of schedule, minimizing the impact to area school traffic.
“We’re happy that it’s opening sooner than expected; it will certainly be beneficial for us moving forward as we begin the processes for the school year,” said Scott Munsie, Assistant Principal at East Forsyth High School.
“With it being open now it’s going to give us more of an opportunity to streamline travel, especially for our open houses that will take place before the formal beginning of school.” Munsie added.
Contractors will close the road for about two hours on Tuesday, Aug. 18th for final striping of the roadway. The impact will be minimal.
This project is part of the department’s overall bridge program to improve the condition of the state’s bridges and was replaced to meet current and future traffic demands.
