City of Greenville Hosts Transportation News Conference Tuesday

Will provide updates on Bypass and Connector Projects

Greenville - Two major transportation projects will be discussed at a news conference on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Greenville City Hall. Greenville Mayor Allen Thomas, NCDOT Board of Transportation Member Ferrell Blount and NCDOT Engineer John Rouse will provide updates and answer questions about the Greenville Bypass and the 10th Street Connector projects.

The $159.6 million Greenville Bypass awarded to Barnhill Contracting of Tarboro, will feature a 12.4-mile, controlled-access four-lane divided highway with five interchanges and a 70 mile per hour speed limit. Construction of the bypass is scheduled to start in March 2016 and be completed by July 2019.

The $30.1 million Stantonsburg Road/10th Street Connector project will make major structural and traffic signal improvements to 1.4 miles of roadway between Memorial Drive and Evans Street. Contractor S.T. Wooten Corporation of Wilson began work on the Connector on Oct. 5 and will be completed by May 14, 2019.
