Charlotte - Repairs of the Concord Avenue Bridge will resume in Monroe tonight after yesterday's rain prevented crews from installing the lane closures that have been in place each night for more than a week.
The two right lanes of U.S. 74 East will be closed near the Concord Avenue bridge beginning tonight at 7 p.m. through 7 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29. The ramp from U.S. 74 East to Concord Avenue will also be closed during this time. The left lane of U.S. 74 East will remain open to traffic.
Last month, the bridge carrying Concord Avenue over U.S. 74 was apparently struck by heavy equipment from a vehicle traveling eastbound on U.S. 74. The impact of the crash damaged the bridge's girder, which is a large beam that helps support the bridge's vertical load.
