NCDOT Starts New Project on Vision Drive

Local residents and visitors advised to use caution during construction

RALEIGH TheN.C. Department of Transportationplans to start work as early as May 18 on Vision Drive north of Asheboro between Interstate 73/74 and Business U.S. 220. Currently, those businesses along Vision Drive on the north side must merge on to I-73/74 with no way to head toward Business U.S. 220. This project will provide a left turn lane so a U-turn can be made to access Business U.S. 220. Additionally, crews will resurface Vision Drive.

The work will include creating new concrete islands, repaving the road and laying new pavement markings. The completion date for the project is tentatively scheduled forApril 27, 2016.

No detours are planned for this project, but lane closures may cause congestion at times. Those citizens entering the nearby Hospice, nursing home, assisted living facility and any other nearby area are advised to use caution while traveling in the area, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.

Sharpe Brothers of Greensboro is the contractor for the $816,082 project, which was awarded to the lowest bidder as required by state law.
