NCDOT to Begin Bridge Replacement Project on Stony Hill Road in Stanly County

CHARLOTTE-On Tuesday, April 21, at 9 a.m., theN.C. Department of Transportationwill close a portion of Stony Hill Road in Stanly County to remove and replace a bridge with a culvert.

The bridge, located over a branch of Mountain Creek south of Badin, was built in 1963 and is considered functionally obsolete. This means that although the bridge is safe for traffic, it needs to be replaced to meet current and future traffic demands.

A detour will be in place directing motorists to travel from Stony Hill Road to Valley Drive, then Clodfelter Road back to Stony Hill Road.

The closure will remain in place through mid-June.
