Raleigh-N.C. Department of Transportation contractors will close the I-85 northbound on-ramp at N.C.39 (Andrews Avenue) on Friday, June 26. The closure, part of a project to improve 20.6 miles of I-85 in Vance and Warren counties, will remain in place until early 2017.
Motorists traveling to I-85 North from N.C. 39 can use a signed detour along Beckford Drive to Garnett Street, and then use the I-85 northbound on-ramp at Parham Road.
Also, on the weekend of July 10 and July 11, I-85 southbound will be closed between 12 and 5 a.m. between the Parham Roadand Dabney Drive exits.
Motorists traveling on or to I-85 South within these interchanges can use a signed detour along U.S. 158 Business West to Beckford Drive, and then use the I-85 southbound on-ramp at Dabney Drive.
This $137 million project covers the interstate between north of Dabney Road in Vance County and the Virginia state line. When completed by July 1, 2020, this section of I-85 will have been updated to current interstate standards to provide safer trips through the area for what is expected to be a rapidly growing traffic volume.
