Raleigh - The N.C. Department of Transportation will permanently close the portion of Lower Lake Road that crosses the North Carolina Railroad (NCRR) tracks just south of Thomasville. Beginning Tuesday, March 10 at 8 a.m., Lower Lake Road will dead end at the railroad tracks from both directions.
Motorists who would like to cross the railroad tracks should use Upper Lake Road or Turner Road as an alternate route.
This work is part of the Piedmont Improvement Program, which involved constructing new highway bridges carrying Upper Lake Road and Turner Road over the NCRR tracks in Davidson County and permanently removing the crossing at Lower Lake Road.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
