NCDOT to Improve 20.3 miles of Roads in Vance County

Raleigh--The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a $2.8 million contract to do resurfacing and shoulder work on 20.3 miles of roadway in Vance County. The contract was awarded to S.T. Wooten Corporation of Wilson.Work on the following roads can begin as early as June 1 and will be completed by April 30, 2016. 4.7 miles of U.S. 158 Bypass from I-85 to the Granville County line; 4.5 miles of U.S. 158 Business from the Granville County line to the beginning of curb and gutter; 4.4 miles of Bobbitt Road from Peter Gill Road to the Franklin County line; .3 mile of Eastern Mineral Road from Raleigh Road to Commerce Road; 1 mile Commerce Road from Bearpond Road to Peter Gill Road; and 5.4 miles of Warrenton Road from the Warren County line to U.S. 1 BusinessThe contractor shall not close or narrow a lane of traffic on U.S. 158 Bypass and U.S. 158 on Monday-Friday between 6-9 a.m. and 4-7 p.m.Lane closures will be restricted on holidays and holiday weekends, including New Year's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.This is one of 15 road, bridge and rest area projects worth $106 million recently awarded by NCDOT for projects across North Carolina. The contracts were awarded to the lowest pre-qualified bidders, as required by state law.
