A road safety improvement project will close a small section of Riley Hill Road in Zebulon starting Monday, April 13. N.C. Department of Transportation
contractors will begin realigning a curve on the road just east of Chad Road between Lizard Lick Road and N.C. 96.A five-year crash study determined there had been 21 accidents in that area, so the curve is being realigned to improve safety at that location. Riley Hill Road is expected to close Monday at 7 a.m., weather permitting. Construction can take place Monday-Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., and Saturday between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. The project should be completed by Monday, June 22, at 6 p.m. Motorists can get around the closure by following a signed detour route along Lizard Lick Road, U.S. 64/264 and N.C. 96.For real-time travel information at any time, call 511, visit www.ncdot.gov/travel or follow NCDOT on Twitter.
