WINSTON-SALEM -Drivers on U.S. 421 near Lewisville will use a short detour during night work next week, as crews finish building the Williams Road bridge over the highway.
Weather-permitting, northbound lanes will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11 and Wednesday, Aug. 12. The North Carolina Department of Transportation will detour all traffic onto exit 244, have drivers continue around the traffic circle to the second right, and take the on ramp back to U.S. 421 North.
Southbound lanes are scheduled to be closed 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12 and Thursday, Aug. 13. Travelers will be detoured onto exit 244, turn left on Williams Road, and take the second right from the traffic circle back to the U.S. 421 South ramp.
The work may require closing either or both directions of U.S. 421 again from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14.
