Wilmington- Starting Tuesday, May 26, the N.C. Department of Transportation will close one lane at a time in either direction of Carolina Beach Road/U.S. 421, from West Lake Shore Drive to Independence Boulevard through June 26, weather permitting. The closures will begin at 8 p.m. and end at 6 a.m. the following day.
The existing pavement in this location is in need of repair, requiring milling to remove the damaged and deteriorated pavement, which will then be replaced with new pavement. The closures will allow NCDOT crews to perform this milling and resurfacing work.
Although there will not be any detours, drivers are still urged to seek alternate routes. Motorists are also advised to use caution while traveling in the area and to expect delays. NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
