RALEIGH-TheN.C. Department of Transportationwill hold apublic meetingon Feb. 17about a proposed safety improvement project that calls forconstruction of a grade separated intersection at U.S. 15-501 and N.C. 144 in Scotland County.
Due to information found in traffic studies, NCDOT saw the need to change this intersection to improve traffic and operational safety along U.S. 15-501. The public meeting will give those a chance to see NCDOT's proposal for U.S. 15-501 to cross over N.C. 144 at the intersection.
The meeting will take place from 4 to 7 p.m.at the Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church located at 15301 McFarland Road in Laurinburg.
NCDOT representatives will be available during the open-house style meeting to provide information, answer questions and collect comments regarding the proposed project. Citizens are welcome to attend at any time during the meeting hours, as there will not be a formal presentation. Public comments and questions will also be accepted in writing. Comments received will be taken into consideration as the project develops. All comments must be received no later than March 3.
The public can view maps displaying the location and design concept for the projectonlineas well as at the NCDOT Division Office at 219 Clemmer Road in Rockingham.
