Public Meeting for Proposed Rail Crossing Closure on Henderson Grove Church Road in Rowan County

Raleigh--The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold an informal public meeting March 3 regarding a proposed railway crossing closure on Henderson Grove Church Road in Salisbury in Rowan County.The purpose of the meeting is to inform the public about the proposed closure due to low traffic volume and an expected increase in future rail traffic. The closing is part of an effort to reduce the number of redundant and/or unsafe rail-highway at-grade crossings nationwide. The crossing will stay open until a new proposed access road is built between Henderson Grove Church Road and Julian Road.The meeting will take place from 5-7 p.m. at the Rowan Public Library, 201 West Fisher Street in Salisbury.Citizens may stop by at their convenience; there will not be a formal presentation. Maps will be available to review and NCDOT representatives will be available to answer questions and receive comments.
