RALEIGH The N.C. Department of Transportation recently awarded a contract to resurface over 19 miles of Harnett County highways. The work includes resurfacing and shoulder reconstruction on 15 miles of U.S. 401 and 4.2 miles of N.C. 27 in and around the Lillington area.
Crews can begin as early as March 2016, with an estimated completion date of November 2016.
Because these are both major commuter routes, no lane closures will be allowed during the project between 5 and 8:30 a.m. and 4 and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Barnhill Contracting Company of Rocky Mount is the contractor for the $2.4 million project.
This is one of four road and bridge projects awarded last week, worth $27.8 million. The contracts were awarded to the lowest qualified bidder, as required by state law.
