Raleigh - Drivers who plan to use the Rogers Road bridge between South Franklin and Heritage Lake roads in Wake Forest on Saturday, Dec. 19, will encounter a one-lane traffic pattern between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. The lane restrictions will allow crews to safely resurface the bridge deck. The work involves removing the
existing asphalt surface on the bridge and approaches, and putting down new
asphalt. The Department has repaired potholes in the deck several times
recently, and has required more constant
and costly repairs.
The NCDOT decided a new road surface is a more efficient way to keep the bridge surface
viable until the two-lane structure is replaced by a five-lane
bridge with sidewalks and a pedestrian underpass in 2016.
