Closures starting Monday; businesses are still open.
RALEIGH-The N.C. Department of Transportation will closeeastbound Russell Street from Worth Street to Gillespie Street in downtown Fayetteville beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 9. Crews will complete utility work associated with the project already underway on Russell Street. The road will reopen upon completion, anticipated for Tuesday afternoon. Drivers can still access Gillespie Street from each direction through the intersection.
Motorists will use Worth, Blount and Gillespie streets forthe detour route. Drivers should use caution while traveling in the area, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. Message boards will be in place to alert drivers of the work.
The work is associated with a project toimprove storm drainage on Russell Street from Gillespie Street to Cross Creek Street in Fayetteville. Crews are replacing approximately 900 feet of storm drainage pipe and improving future storm drainage along the route.
