Section of Rolesville Road Closing This Weekend for Rolesville Bypass Work

RALEIGH - As progress on the U.S. 401 Rolesville Bypass project continues, the contractor plans to close a section of Rolesville Road this weekend to make the required connection for the upcoming bypass. The roadway will close Friday, March 27, at 10 p.m. and is expected to re-open by Monday, March 30, at 6 a.m.The closure is needed so crews can install new concrete islands, and pavement markings to put traffic into its new "superstreet" pattern. A superstreet keeps through traffic moving instead of being slowed by traffic signals at intersections. By minimizing the number of signals, the plan improves mobility and reduces the number of accidents.A signed detour will be in place, using South Main Street., Jonesville Road and Mitchell Mill Road.Once Rolesville Road is reopened, there will be a new traffic pattern and motorists will be using a small portion of the new bypass.Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling in the area of the road closures and to take the detour routes into account for possible delays. NCDOT reminds motorists to watch for detour signs, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. For more information about funding for infrastructure improvements in North Carolina, as well as other NCDOT projects and activities, visit real-time travel information at any time, call 511, visit the Traveler Services section of the NCDOT website or follow NCDOT on Twitter.
