CHARLOTTE-The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close two of the three eastbound lanes on U.S. 74 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, and Thursday, September 17, in order to inspect the Concord Avenue bridge. The ramp connecting eastbound U.S. 74 and Concord Avenue will also be closed during the inspection.
The leftmost eastbound lane of U.S. 74 will remain open for traffic. Motorists are advised to use caution while traveling through the area and be alert for bridge inspectors.
The ramp from eastbound U.S. 74 to Skyway Drive will remain open during the bridge inspection periods. NCDOT does not expect to restrict travel on the Concord Avenue bridge itself, though motorists traveling across the bridge should remain alert.
Because the closures will be relatively brief, there will be no posted detours. Secrest Short Cut Road will be available for motorists who need a connection between eastbound U.S. 74 and Concord Avenue during the lane closures.
