CHARLOTTE The N.C. Department of Transportation willtemporarilyclose several ramps onU.S. 321 at Exit 28 (U.S. 321 Business) in LincolnCountythis week as part of ongoing resurfacing work.
On Thursday, Sept. 10, the northbound ramps on and off U.S. 321 at Exit 28will be closedshortly after 8:30 a.m. Message boards and and temporarysignage will be in placedetouring traffic to Exit 33 (Startown Road) and back.
On Friday, Sept. 11, the southbound ramps on and off U.S. 321 atExit 28 will be closed.Detour signage will be set out for the southbound direction at Exit 24 and additional message boards will remain in place on U.S.321 Business.
The closures will allow crews to complete milling and resurfacing, which aredependent on good weather conditions. The milling and resurfacing on the ramps should last only one day in each direction.
The work is part of aprojectto resurface U.S. 321 in Lincoln County from north of the N.C. 27 ramps to the Catawba County line, as well as four sections of secondary roads.Workstarted in late July and is scheduled for completion late this year. Blythe Construction, Inc. is the contractor for the $3 million project.
