RALEIGH - The N.C. Department of Transportation closed a section of Lake Wilson Road just west of Elm City in Wilson County on Wednesday, Dec. 2, for a pipe replacement project. The road was originally scheduled to reopen Thursday, Dec. 10. However, due to weather, the road will now reopen the afternoon of Friday, Dec. 11.
The closure, which is taking place between London Church Road and West Langley Road, is necessary for crews to replace a failing drainage pipe under the road, just east of Tall Oak Court. During the closure crews will also replace two other pipes under Lake Wilson Road.
The road is closed to through traffic; however, local residents are able to access their homes from either side of the closure at the work site. Through traffic is using West Langley Road and London Church Road as a detour.
