Raleigh - Road repair work has closed a short section of the right lane of I-26 Eastbound this afternoon between exits 40 (N.C. 280) and 44 (U.S. 25) in Henderson County.
A concrete roadway slab was replaced by asphalt on Monday night, but the material had not cooled properly by the time the lane was opened this morning, so the closure is in place to give it more time to set properly.
NCDOT crews hope to re-open the lane by about 5 p.m. today. Drivers are reminded to use extra caution in the area and to anticipate possible travel delays as they go through the area.
