Students, parents invited to attend
Raleigh - The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles' School Bus and Traffic Safety Unit invites area parents and school students to a Back-to-School Safety Fair on Friday, Aug. 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Greenville Driver License Office, located at 703 SE Greenville Blvd., Suite 12, in Greenville.
The event will offer students and parents an opportunity to review and discuss safety practices when boarding and leaving school buses, using crosswalks, and walking or biking to school. Law enforcement and safety officials will also be on hand to inform drivers about the school bus stop law.
The fair will also host partners from the State Highway Patrol and the Greenville Police Department.
NCDMV's School Bus and Traffic Safety Unit has 88 driver education specialists who train school bus driver across the state. Working through local school systems, they train an average 8,000 drivers annually. The unit's specialists also train and certify driver's education instructors.
In preparation for the start of the 2016 traditional school year, the School Bus and Traffic Safety team will promote school bus safety around the state on Aug. 12 by distributing materials and talking with the public.
