Charlotte - Beginning Thursday, Dec. 15, crews will close lanes on I-85 North and South between the W.T. Harris Boulevard and University City Boulevard exits. This will allow the City of Charlotte to continue construction on its project to build a bridge over the interstate at that location.
Crews will close three southbound lanes from 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, to 5 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, and from 10 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17. Depending on progress, the southbound lane closures may take place at 10 p.m. Saturday night or be moved to the same area on I-85 North until 8 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 18.
Crews will close three lanes on I-85 North from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, and Monday, Dec. 19. Closures on Tuesday, Dec. 20, and Wednesday, Dec. 21, will be limited to the left lanes on I-85 North and South from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. both nights.
The University Pointe Boulevard project will build a new bridge over I-85 extending from Ikea Boulevard to IBM Drive, providing an alternative to heavily-traveled W.T. Harris Boulevard and University City Boulevard.
