Raleigh - Officials at the N.C. Department of Transportation urge drivers traveling northbound on Bragg Boulevard in Fayetteville to use the Fayetteville Outer Loop and Murchison Road if traveling north of Fort Bragg.
Bragg Boulevard was closed Wednesday afternoon between Randolph Street and Butner Road to aid in the ongoing roadway construction in Spring Lake. This is another step in completing the Murchison Road improvement project and ultimately permanently closing Bragg Boulevard through Fort Bragg.
NCDOT Division 6 Engineer Greg Burns says using the Fayetteville Outer Loop to Murchison Road will ease congestion near the closure.
"Ultimately this is the route drivers will be using once Bragg Boulevard is closed through Fort Bragg" said Burns.
Northbound Bragg Boulevard drivers are being detoured to Randolph Street and Murchison Road (N.C. 210) back to Bragg Boulevard just north of Butner Road. Access to Sandhills Cemetery will remain open for northbound drivers. Southbound Bragg Boulevard drivers can continue south with no detour.
State transportation officials remind motorists to watch signs for construction and detour information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. For real-time travel information, visit the Traveler Services section of NCDOT.gov or follow NCDOT on Twitter.
