Winston-Salem - N.C. Department of Transportation contractors will close alternating lanes on Priddy Farm Road and Tuttle Road as they replace two bridges over Muddy Creek. Both roads are located northwest of Rural Hall.
Priddy Farm Road between Moon Drive and Tuttle Road will become a one-lane road while crews work to demolish and replace each half of the bridges at a time.
Lane closures will be in effect daily from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. starting Monday, Sep. 26, until the new bridge is complete in March 2017.
"While there will be delays during the lane closures, this option is better for the residents living in the area who will not have to endure what could have been a long detour route," said Division Nine Assistant Resident Engineer Johnny Nifong.
Work on the Tuttle Road Bridge replacement will begin Dec. 11 and, also is expected to be complete in March 2017. Detours will be in place during the work on this bridge.
"These projects are part of the department's overall bridge program to improve the condition of the state's bridges," said Division Nine Engineer Pat Ivey. "Projects like these are part of Governor McCrory's 25-Year Vision for transportation in North Carolina to enhance travel safety and to better connect North Carolinians to jobs, education, healthcare and recreation opportunities."
Transportation officials remind motorists to reduce speed and exercise caution while traveling through work zones.
