Charlotte - The closure of the 6700 block of Freedom Drive will be extended following the conclusion of preventative maintenance work on the Colonial pipeline. More time is needed to return the road to the N.C. Department of Transportation's standards. Freedom Drive is now scheduled to reopen by Sunday, Sept. 25, at 6 a.m. This work is not related to the repairs underway to the pipeline in Alabama.
Signs will continue to detour northbound traffic from Freedom Drive left to westbound Moores Chapel road and then right onto eastbound Old Mount Holly Road, from which motorists can then turn left back onto Freedom Drive.
Southbound traffic on Freedom Drive will detour to the right onto westbound Old Mount Holly Road, turn left onto eastbound Moores Chapel Road, and then return to Freedom Drive.
