Gibsonville Sidewalk Project Helps Those in Need in Guilford County

Greensboro - N.C. Department of Transportation contractors are finishing up work on a project in Gibsonville that will help dozens of senior pedestrians continue to have the freedom to simply walk the town. With the last of pedestrian enhancement funds for Division 7, contractors have been working over the last two weeks to install sidewalks between Steel Street and Bethel Road at the bequest of the town's Mayor Lenny Williams. "We saw this request as an opportunity to help the residents of the community to maintain their independence while providing a safe option for them to connect to needed resources," said Division Engineer Mike Mills. "This installation of sidewalks makes is easier for many senior and disabled residents within the Azalea Circle Apartment community to get to and from shops without having to walk, sometimes wheel into the street," said Mayor Lenny Williams.
