Details: N.C. Transportation Secretary Nick Tennyson and N.C. Natural and Cultural Resources Secretary Susan Kluttz will join a number of state and local representatives at a groundbreaking ceremony for the U.S. 64 Asheboro Bypass.
Other officials attending include: Chairman of the Randolph County Commissioners Darrell Frye; Mayor David Smith of the Town of Asheboro; Member of the N.C. House of Representatives Allen McNeill.
The U.S. 64 Asheboro Bypass is a 16.1-mile four-lane highway that will improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, improve safety and enhance high-speed regional travel on the U.S. 64 corridor.
This project is an integral part of the N.C. Department of Transportation's plan to upgrade the U.S. 64 and N.C. 49 corridors from Statesville to Raleigh (U.S. 64) and Charlotte to Raleigh (N.C. 49 and U.S. 64).
