Hatteras - The U.S. Coast Guard and Army Corps of Engineers have given approval for the N.C. Department of Transportation's Hatteras Inlet ferry route to resume service immediately. The route will run a daylight-hours only schedule for the rest of the day on Wednesday, Oct. 12, and an anticipated return to its full fall schedule on Thursday, Oct. 13.
Hyde County's re-entry restrictions remain in effect for all Ocracoke-bound ferries. Only residents, property owners, vendors, and critical infrastructure personnel with required documentation will be allowed on those ferries.
At this point, all seven North Carolina Ferry System Routes are running.
