Hucks Road in Charlotte to Close for Bridge Replacement Project

Charlotte - Hucks Road in Charlotte will close to through traffic on Monday, June 13, as a project to replace the bridge spanning a branch of Clarks Creek gets under way.

This is an example of the transportation improvement projects underway across the state as part of Governor McCrory's 25-Year Transportation Vision to enhance travel safety and to better connect North Carolinians to jobs, education, healthcare and recreation opportunities. Construction will continue through Spring 2017. Once completed, the new bridge will also have a sidewalk for pedestrians. A signed detour will be in place directing motorists to use Old Statesville Road, Independence Hill Road, Eastfield Road and Browne Road. This bridge replacement project is part of an $8.5 million contract to replace one bridge in Anson County, four bridges in Cabarrus County, one bridge in Mecklenburg County and four bridges in Union County. Dane Construction, Inc. is the project contractor.
