Winston-Salem - N.C. Department of Transportation contractors will begin work this weekend that will permanently close the West School Street crossing in King.
This work is being done as apart of the Goff Road relocation project near Old U.S. 52 and Dalton Road.
The permanent closure will take place Saturday, July 16.
"It is being funded by the "Spot" Safety Program as part of Governor McCrory's 25-Year Transportation Vision to enhance travel safety and to better connect North Carolinians to jobs, education, healthcare and recreation opportunities," said Division 9 Engineer Pat Ivey.
