Daily Closures to Occur at 10-Minute Intervals
Greenville - The N.C. Department of Transportation will intermittently close all of King Street/N.C. 11/55, between Heritage Street and McLewean Street, and Queen Street/N.C.58/U.S. 70 Bus/U.S. 258, between King Street and Caswell Street in Kinston.
The closures, which will take place daily between 12 and 3 p.m. from Monday, March 14 to Thursday, March 18, will allow crews to transport and place 16 concrete girders for the Queen Street Bridge Project. Due to the length of the girders, the delivery trucks will require the entire roadway width to maneuver and remain properly oriented.
The girders are up to 125 feet long and weigh more than 37 tons each. Although there will not be any detours, drivers are still urged to seek alternate routes. Motorists are also advised to use caution while traveling in the area and to expect possible delays. NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
