- Beginning Friday, April 29, and continuing for roughly two weeks, the N.C. Department of Transportation will install lane closures on Old Monroe Road/Old Charlotte Highway at Southfork Road in Indian Trail for waterline installation.
The lane closures can be in place daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be intermittent, depending on the proximity of the work to the roadway edge.
The lane closures are part of a project to improve the intersection of Old Monroe Road and Southfork Road. Replacing the bridge on Indian Trail Road over South Fork Crooked Creek is another component of this project. The bridge on Indian Trail Road will close to traffic on Friday, June 10. During this time, motorists can use the following detour:
- The detour for passenger cars and school buses will be Indian Trail Road to Old Monroe Road to Southfolk Road, with a left turn lane installed on Old Monroe Road and a temporary signal
- The detour for tractor-trailers will be Indian Trail Road to Old Monroe Road to Stallings Road to Gribble Road
There will be pavement patching on Southfork Road to address maintenance needs before cars and buses are detoured onto this route.
