Greensboro - Final work on the Haw River Bridge will prompt lane and road closures starting tonight in the Town of Oak Ridge.
Traffic along N.C. 68 will be down to one lane from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. between Bartonshire Drive and East Harrell Road while contractors pour concrete into a retaining wall.
Crews will close the same section of roadway at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Sep. 24, and reopen the road at 6 p.m. the same day while contractors complete final, paving, guardrail and grading work.
Motorists traveling through the area will use Haw River Road, Bethel Church Road and Oak Ridge Road to detour around the work.
Transportation officials advise drivers to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit, as heavy equipment will be in the roadway as well as flaggers directing traffic.
