Winston-Salem - A crash site that closed a portion of I-85 north near the Julian Road exit in Rowan early Tuesday morning, is expected to be cleared by mid-afternoon; and some lanes along the crash site will open within the hour according to the State Highway Patrol and N.C. Department of Transportation crews on the scene.
State Highway Patrol informed NCDOT that the deadly 3-vehicle crash, involving a tractor-trailer occurred just after 5 a.m.
Until the road fully reopens drivers are encouraged to detour around the site using exit 74 to U.S. 601/Jake Alexander Boulevard.
NCDOT is also taking this time to remind the traveling public of the Move Over Law.
Under the "Move Over" law, motorists are required to move over one lane, if possible, or reduce speed for stopped emergency vehicles with flashing lights on the shoulder of the highway, including public service vehicles with amber lights. Violating the law could result in a $500 fine.
