***MEDIA ADVISORY*** N.C. Department of Transportation "Roadeo" for Division 7, covering Orange, Alamance, Caswell, Guilford and Rockingham counties

Wednesday and Thursday, March 30 and 31 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Comments will be made from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. B-roll/photo availability will be available during the same timeframe.

128 Quarry Road, Haw River, NC 27258

The "Roadeo" is an annual event held in each of the NCDOT's 14 divisions across the state to test the safety awareness and skill level of NCDOT employees who operate heavy equipment. They engage in friendly competition with their co-workers to determine who can best maneuver a dump truck, tractor, backhoe, low-boy trailer or motor grader through obstacle courses or assignments that model real-life scenarios that maintenance crews encounter each day on the job.

The overall goals of the "Roadeo" include helping NCDOT workers advance their skills, emphasizing the importance of safety when operating heavy equipment, fostering a sense of team spirit, and recognizing employees who excel at their jobs.

The Division 7 winner in each category will move on to compete against the winners from other NCDOT divisions in the statewide "Roadeo" in Raleigh this summer at the N.C. State Fairgrounds.
