Members of the media are invited to attend a construction viewing event to learn more about the Sugar Creek Road Grade Separation Project, currently under way in Charlotte. The N.C. Department of Transportation, the City of Charlotte, the Federal Rail Administration, the North Carolina Railroad Company (NCRR) and Norfolk Southern are working together to deliver the project, which is designed to improve safety and efficiency in one of North Carolina's busiest rail corridors.
Event speakers include N.C. Transportation Secretary Nick Tennyson and NCRR President Scott Saylor.
Comments will be made from 11-11:30 a.m. Opportunities for B-roll/photography will be from 11:30 a.m. to noon. Media outlets should arrive at the project site no later than 10:45 a.m.
Safety vests are required, as this location is an active construction site. Media should access the event site by taking North Tryon Street/U.S. 29 to East Sugar Creek Road. Parking for live trucks/news vehicles will be available on site. Due to limited parking, carpooling is encouraged.
Members of the media who plan on attending must respond to Jordan-Ashley B. Walker by Friday, July 8, at 5 p.m.
