Greensboro - N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will begin repainting a portion of N.C. 54 and U.S. 15/501 from Old Fayetteville Street to I-40 between Carrboro and Chapel Hill, prompting moving road closures over the next week.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily starting Wednesday, March 31, until Friday, April 8; crews will conduct the moving closure along the 9-mile stretch of roadway.
For the safety of the workers, as well as motorists and their passengers, NCDOT encourages drivers to pay extra attention, and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.
NCDOT is also taking this time to remind the traveling public of the Move Over Law.
Under the "Move Over" law, motorists are required to move over one lane, if possible, or reduce speed for stopped emergency vehicles with flashing lights on the shoulder of the highway, including public service vehicles with amber lights. Violating the law could result in a $500 fine.
