NC By Train, North Carolina's passenger rail service, in conjunction with Amtrak, and the city of Thomasville, will offer customers the most convenient way to travel to the Southeast's largest Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 30. Tickets are now on sale for travel on the Carolinian and Piedmont.
A special 15 percent discount will be offered to veterans as well as active military members (use promotion code V706).
The trains will make the special stop in downtown Thomasville at Salem and Randolph streets, near the parade route. The stop will be wheelchair accessible. The 30th annual parade will start at 10 a.m. North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory will serve as the parade grand marshal. After the parade, attendees can enjoy free food and watch paratroopers arrive at Thomasville Stadium. More information about the parade is available at the Thomasville Tourism website.
The northbound Carolinian Train 80 leaves Charlotte at 7 a.m., stopping through Kannapolis and Salisbury with a scheduled arrival in Thomasville at 8:10 a.m. The southbound Piedmont Train 73 departs Raleigh at 6:45 a.m., stopping through Cary, Durham, Burlington, Greensboro and High Point with a scheduled arrival in Thomasville at 8:45 a.m.
The northbound Piedmont Train 74 is scheduled to depart Thomasville at 1:13 p.m., with stops in High Point, Greensboro, Burlington, Durham and Cary before arriving in Raleigh at 3:21 p.m. The southbound Piedmont Train 75 is scheduled to depart Thomasville at 1:45 p.m., with stops in Salisbury and Kannapolis before a scheduled arrive in Charlotte at 3:04 p.m.
