NCDMV's Mobile Unit Finds New Home in Ocracoke

Will make up missed April visit on May 20

Raleigh - The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles has found a new home for its SUV-style portable mobile unit in Ocracoke. The unit will bring driver license and identification card services to the Ocracoke Volunteer Fire Department, located at 822 Irvin Garrish Highway. The unit will operate in the first floor conference room from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, May 20.

The mobile unit had to curtail its April visit because of technical problems with its cameras. After its May visit, the unit will return to the Fire Department location on Friday, July 22 and on Friday, Oct. 21.

The new unit offers complete driver license and ID card services for customers, bringing up-to-date equipment to indoor locations. DMV services are also available at offices located in Nags Head and Edenton. Information about these and other mobile stops in the region, including Swan Quarter, Columbia and Plymouth, is listed on the DMV website.

As part of Governor Pat McCrory's Driving Change initiatives, many driver license renewal and vehicle registration renewal services are also available online through the NCDMV website at
