Manns Harbor - On Wednesday, May 4, the North Carolina Department of Transportation's Ferry Division will be participating in a Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response (VIPR) security exercise. The exercise will be held in cooperation with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the Craven and Carteret County sheriffs departments and emergency services, the United States Coast Guard, ferry terminals at Cherry Branch, Minnesott Beach, Bayview, Aurora, and Cedar Island, and all ferry vessels attached. This is an exercise in which local and federal agencies work together to supplement existing security resources.
This program has been implemented across various transportation modes and at many facilities across the nation over the last several years. The exercise is not taking place in response to any threat to the homeland, the terminals, ferry vessels, or any other transportation venue or facility.
