NCDOT Wants Feedback on Proposed Noise Walls for Monroe Expressway

Charlotte - The Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting next week regarding the balloting process for proposed noise walls for the Monroe Expressway project in Mecklenburg and Union counties.

The purpose of the noise walls is to reduce traffic noise and congestion. The Department plans to ask residents of the area whether or not they want the walls.

The meeting will provide information and answer questions regarding the walls and will outline voting procedures. Voting will not occur at this meeting. Ballots will be mailed out to residents in the area.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, Nov. 15, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Sardis Baptist Church, located at 3602 Unionville-Indian Trail Road in Indian Trail. There will be a brief formal presentation at 6:30 p.m. followed by an open house. Interested citizens may attend the meeting at any time.
