The Department of Transportation will be opening a stretch of George Liles Parkway between U.S. 29 and Stough Road in Cabarrus County on Monday, Dec. 19, weather permitting.
Currently, both sides of traffic are maintained on a two-lane, two-way section. When the new segment opens, the road will have two lanes running in both directions.
In conjunction with the opening, the new intersection of George Liles Parkway and Roberta Road will be open to traffic, as will the bridge taking George Liles Parkway over U.S. 29.
Crews may be seen working over the weekend preparing for the full opening on Monday.
The old section of Roberta Church Road will no longer access this new segment and will be closed just past the entrance to the Concord Pointe apartment complex. Detour signs will be in place to direct motorists.
