Greensboro - Damaged shoulder and drains have prompted maintenance crews to prepare to close the right lane along a section of I-40 Westbound near N.C. 86 in Chapel Hill.
A lane closure will be in effect for three nights from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. starting Tuesday, Sep. 13 until Friday, Sep. 16. During that time crews will be working in the roadway to replace new pipes and backfill the shoulder. NCDOT is also taking this time to remind the traveling public of the Move Over Law. Under the "Move Over" law, motorists are required to move over one lane, if possible, or reduce speed for stopped emergency vehicles with flashing lights on the shoulder of the highway, including public service vehicles with amber lights. Violating the law could result in a fine.
