Raleigh - Contractors with the N.C. Department of Transportation will continue repair work on northbound I-95 bridge decks in Lumberton beginning this weekend.
The work means that I-95 North will be closed between mile markers 17-18 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sun. Nov. 13, through Thursday, Nov. 17, weather permitting. Nighttime construction will help minimize impacts to motorists.
The project involves roadway paving on two bridges in that area. The bridge work, which will consist of bridge deck rehabilitation and substructure bridge painting, will increase safety for motorists and increase the life span on the bridges.
Motorists will get around the closure by taking exit 17, and following N.C. 72 to Pine Log Road to N.C. 211 back to I-95 at Exit 20. During the day, there will be no closures or detours associated with the project.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch for construction and detour signs, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. For real-time travel information at any time, visit the Traveler Services section of the NCDOT website or follow NCDOT on Twitter.
