Charlotte - A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will close the intersection of Oakdale Road and Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road as part of the construction of a new interchange with Interstate 485. The closure is scheduled to begin at 4 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, and the intersection will reopen by 9 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23.
During the closure, the contractor will build a roundabout at the intersection. Signs will guide motorists through detour routes in the area.
Motorists with a destination on Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road will be directed to use I-485 between Harris Boulevard and Brookshire Boulevard.
Motorists with a destination on Oakdale Road will be directed to use Brookshire Boulevard and Pleasant Grove Road from the Brookshire Boulevard intersection with Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road and to use Beatties Ford Road and Miranda Road from the Beatties Ford Road intersection with Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road.
The new interchange of Oakdale Road and I-485 is scheduled to open next month.
