A large container fell off the back of a flatbed truck Friday morning on N.C. 16/Brookshire Boulevard near the ramp to I-85, spilling nearly 300 gallons of white paint. Lane closures will be in place for several hours as cleanup continues.
The N.C. Department of Transportation is on site monitoring cleanup efforts and providing traffic control. At this time, the two right lanes of N.C. 16/Brookshire Boulevard are closed, as well as one lane on the ramp to I-85 North.
When the paint container overturned, the paint initially pooled on the road. As traffic drove over the paint, it spread beyond the spot of the initial spill. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area, if possible.
