Raleigh - Beginning Tuesday, June 28, Murchison Road in Spring Lake will be closed between Randolph Street and Bragg Boulevard.
The closure will allow an N.C. Department of Transportation contractor to reconstruct the road to meet current design standards. This will include aligning Murchison Road with the new Randolph Street Interchange. It will also improve the grade of the road to improve safety.
The contractor must complete the work by mid-October. During that time, northbound Murchison Road traffic will be detoured to take the newly constructed Randolph Street to Bragg Boulevard. Motorists can then continue north on Bragg Boulevard to get back to Murchison Road. Southbound Murchison Road traffic will stay south on Bragg Boulevard to reach Randolph Street, and then can rejoin Murchison Road.
NCDOT officials are coordinating with Fort Bragg and the Town of Spring Lake on this project.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit. For real-time travel information, visit the Traveler Services section of NCDOT.gov or follow NCDOT on Twitter.
Transportation improvement projects like this one are currently underway across the state as part of Governor McCrory's 25-Year Transportation Vision to enhance travel safety and to better connect North Carolinians to jobs, education, healthcare and recreation opportunities.
