Asheville - A crash reported near Canton has prompted the N.C. Department of Transportation to close all westbound lanes along a portion of I-40 West at The U.S. 23/74 Interchange.
A collision and subsequent fire occurred between a tractor-trailer and a mini-van near Exit 27 just after 3 this morning.
Slow downs are expected over the next few hours as cleanup from the accident continues.
NCDOT is also taking this time to remind the traveling public of the Move Over Law.
Under the "Move Over" law, motorists are required to move over one lane, if possible, or reduce speed for stopped emergency vehicles with flashing lights on the shoulder of the highway, including public service vehicles with amber lights. Violating the law could result in a $500 fine.
